I go through phases (including one that took the form of a year-long hiatus from any sort of creative activity) where I would find myself uninspired and unable to create anything. My process is driven purely by a strong desire to get something off my mind and my chest. Such is my folly, really – I keep things bottled for its unpredictable, yet inevitable unleashing. That said, my emotional binges can render some interesting results.”
During her creative dry spells, Issha makes the effort to experience the local art scene, attending various artist lectures, workshops, and openings within the downtown Toronto core. She likes to run for fun, and has participated in two half marathons since she picked up running in the summer of 2007. She can also be found gallivanting across the city attending as many concerts as she can fit into her roster of activities.
“Music is my other passion. I secretly still dream of making it as a rock star, but I have long since traded my guitar for a paintbrush, a camera, and when the opportunity presents itself, etching tools. Evidently, my fingers are not suited for gripping barre chords, nor can they stretch over several frets. Need I add that I severely lack any hand-eye coordination needed for picking the strings? It’s a tragedy, really.”
